POV: You Trek to Everest Base Camp

We had the absolute pleasure of accompanying multiple groups of women to Nepal this year, all to experience the magic of the trek to Everest Base Camp.

This adventure starts well before the actual trek itself. It requires long-term planning, training, strengthening, and packing. But from the moment we step on the plane for that international flight, the excitement rushes in and doesn’t stop. Join us for the journey of Everest Base Camp with Travel Her Way, from absolute start to finish.

β€œOne of the best days of my trip. While in Katmandu, Nepal I had the honor to meet Saray Khumalo The First Black African Women to Summit Mount Everest!! I also had the chance to meet this amazing group of ladies she is currently leading to Everest Base Camp, and Island Peaks. They are all so lovely, and doing amazing works. They brought extra joy to my heart, and that push of encouragement! Keep on pushing ladies rooting for you and noting but success. The mountain is just the beginning.”

I did the EBC trek with a couple girl friends. It turned out to be one of my best trips! Not only I had a great time with the girls. I was taken very good care of. On the 4th day, I accidentally fell to the ground and hurt my right knee. It was bleeding and I had a lot of pain. We had a female assistant guide. She had the first aid kit with her and helped me clean up the wound and put on bandages. Since then, I walked slow and couldn’t keep up with the team. However, she was with me the whole time and make sure I was taken care of. She also checked on me every night and helped me change the bandage. My knee got better gradually and I was able to reach the final destination, the Everest Base Camp! I felt so thankful, and without her help, I would not be able to check the place off my list.

HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR TRAVEL HER WAY EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK:

- Accomplished a bucket-list item: Trek to the foothill of Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world.

- Saw the stunning Himalayas, up close and personal.

- Explored the ancient city of Kathmandu and learn about Buddhist and Hindu traditions and culture.

- Enjoyed a one-hour complimentary spa in Kathmandu after trek. It's on us!

On day 5 of every Everest Base Camp trek we tackle, we spend an entire day resting at Namche Bazaar, with a great elevation of 3,440m/11,286ft. The point of sitting still for a bit is to allow our bodies to acclimatize in the higher altitude as we continue to gain elevation each day. On this specific rest day in Namche, we experience the bright and lively nature through interesting shops, buzzing Saturday market, tasty cuisine, and beautiful scenery.

This β€˜rest’ day also includes a short hike to the twin villages of Khumjung and Khunde, known for their monasteries, and the Everest View Hotel, which (tru to its name) offers a marvelous view of Mount Everest.
I successfully completed the Everest base camp trek in Nepal. The trek was long, but it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Incredible view along the way. Can’t describe the feeling when I finally arrived at the base camp. Looking at the mountain, I was so proud of myself. Highly recommend!

β€œEverest Base Camp in Nepal. Wow what can I say. I will start off by saying I lost so much weight. The healthy eating, organic food grown on the mountain, trekking for 8 hours a day, fresh air and good exercise. These are before and after photos I’m like a new person. Fresh mountain food is the best. E.B.C. Feeling healthy and good I’m so ready for the next trek.”
